|The Silque's internal cable routing offers precision shifting and positive braking in all conditions. It's also aerodynamic, compatibile with modern drivetrains, and it protects the cables to reduce wear and tear and maintenance.||The E2 head tube tapers from 1 1/2 to 1-1/8 inch and is wider side to side than front to back. |Trek's Silque features a unique bottom bracket that's 90mm wide (traditional ones are 68mm wide). This wide bottom bracket lets Trek build the frame with larger tubes for increased power transfer. Plus, the BB90 is machined so that the bearings can be placed directly into the frame saving weight due to fewer parts, ensuring additional pedaling efficiency and simplifying maintenance and repair.|
For increased stiffness and improved steering precision, tapered head tubes (see image, on left) and forks pair an oversize lower steerer tube (usually 1 1/2 inch, see image, on right) with a standard diameter upper steerer tube (usually 1 1/8 inch). This combination sheds weight compared to straight 1 1/2-inch systems, and adds stability and stiffness when compared to straight 1 1/8-inch systems. The result is a bike that tracks better through corners while allowing for the use of standard stems.

This bike was a gift from my father back in September. I had been riding my mother's 2014 BH G6 for a few years and wanted something more suitable for myself. She is about 5" shorter than me, so the adjustments weren't as comfortable for my ride. I tested out the Trek Lexa, and the Emonda to get a feel for both Aluminum and Carbon. I wasn't sold on either of these, so the salesman recommended I test this bike out. As soon as I clipped in, I fell in love with it! The ride was smooth like butter! Within the first few minutes of the test ride, I knew this was the bike I'd be taking it home. I mostly ride the beach path and riverbeds, but this bike is great on the roads as well. The gears shift effortlessly. For the price, you're getting a great bike that is designed to please. An added bonus is that the bike has a full Shimano Ultegra Groupset. This does increase the price of the bike, but for that you're getting lightweight components that will last the test of time. From casual rides to racing, this bike has continued to impress! I will say that I was a little turned off with the hot pink decals, because I'm more of a tomboy but it's grown on me. I have received many compliments on this bike (from men and women). After the first 1,000 miles I got a little tune-up. This made a noticeable difference and got me back to that smooth buttery feeling.
